Faroese founder mourned
People with connections with Faroe will be saddened to hear of the death of Johanna Hansen, founder member of the Faroe Shetland Association.
Mrs. Hansen died in Faroe of an aneurysm on Sunday at the age of 66, and was laid to rest on Friday. She was well known throughout Shetland, a place she referred to as her second home.
Mrs. Hansen founded the Shetland Faroe Association in July 1992, four months after her friend Rena Bain formed the Shetland Faroe Association. Many strong and lasting friendships have been formed between members of the two groups.
No challenge was ever too great for her and her hospitality was endless, as many Shetlanders who had the pleasure of experiencing dinner parties at her home will testify. She was at true friend and will be greatly missed.
